AUSTIN SCHOOL OF FASHION DESIGN was created to enhance the student's further understanding of the techniques used in the Fashion Industry, as well as providing an in depth hands-on examination of the skills needed to create designs and final garments.

Because all of our classes are taught by instructors with CURRENT experience in the Fashion Industry, the student is exposed to valuable knowledge and experience, adding a validity to the classes that is lacking in some other programs. This experience makes it possible for the student to have a realistic understanding of the profession.

AUSTIN SCHOOL OF FASHION DESIGN IS NOT A COLLEGE OR TECHNICAL SCHOOL. We do not give school credits, grade a students work, or give diplomas. There are no admission requirements. Our school offers a design studio environment for the student who wants to learn the industry standard skills in fashion design, and wants to be taught by instructors with experience in those skills.

MARY MARGARET QUADLANDER created the school after a successful twenty-two year career as a fashion designer. She graduated from THE FASHION INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY in New York with the highest honors and sold to most notable stores and boutiques in the United States. The curriculum at the AUSTIN SCHOOL OF FASHION DESIGN is formatted closely to standards of her schooling in New York, so that the student can get a true understanding of Fashion Design.

Most of our beginning courses are offered on a six week rotating calendar, with students meeting once a week for two hours. A great description of each of our classes, including class times and dates, is listed under the course name on the Classes Page. We have our main ADULT FASHION DESIGN PROGRAM, and we also offer a CHILDREN'S PROGRAM FOR kids, ages 8-16, who want to learn sewing and fashion illustration.
