AUSTIN SCHOOL OF FASHION DESIGN was created to enhance the student's further understanding of the techniques used in the Fashion Industry, as well as providing an in depth hands-on examination of the skills needed to create designs and final garments.

Because ALL OF OUR CLASSES ARE TAUGHT BY INSRUCTORS WITH CURRENT EXPERIENCE IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY, the student is exposed to VALUABLE KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE, adding a validity to the classes lacking in some other programs. Our instructors bring years of experience to their classes, which makes it possible for the student to have a realistic understanding of the profession. A great description of all of our classes is listed under Classes, along with a Calendar showing class times. Students meet on a scheduled basis depending on the class they are taking. During the week we offer Sewing, Flat Pattern, Illustration, Draping, Manufacturing and Marketing a Collection, Hat Design, Purse Design, Portfolio, Costume Design, as well as others. THESE ARE SIX-WEEK CLASSES THAT MEET ONCE A WEEK FOR TWO HOURS. So that working adults can take advantage of our program, we offer classes both during the Day and Evening, which makes it possible to continue working while you are learning.
For those of you that only need help on specific tasks, we offer Saturday classes on such topics as "the easy way to SEW A PERFECT ZIPPER, DART, AND SLEEVE (without crying!); HOW TO USE THE SERGER; HOW TO USE INDUSTRIAL MACHINES, HOW TO ALTER A PATTERN, AND OTHER TWO HOUR CLASSES. These are quick and concentrated, answering a lot of your questions. Check the Classes Pages for more information.
During the SUMMER PROGRAM ONLY, we offer CLASSES FOR CHILDREN that are five-day, Monday through Friday, courses. Click on photos of the school on this page, to see how much fun the kids have and how quickly they learn! Go to the bottom of the Recurring Classes page to see the summer courses for children.
STUDENTS WHO ATTEND OUR SCHOOL DO NOT RECEIVE CREDITS, GRADES, OR CERTIFICATES, AND THERE IS NO REQUIREMENT FOR ADMISSION....JUST A DESIRE TO LEARN! The only requirement is to either know how to sew or to take Beginning Sewing before taking any of the other courses, with the exception of Fashion Illustration, which may be taken at any time. Come to our great location in central Austin and experience the uniqueness of our program. Register for classes on-line. Our class sizes are limited, so register as soon as possible.
