Basic Sewing Skills are needed for this class. In Fashion Design every silhouette is created by using a set of basic slopers to draft a design. That design can then be changed by using manipulation techniques called Flat Pattern Design. These changes such as rotating a dart, moving a seam, creating fullness, or creating a new style line can be done with very simple changes. Basic quarter size Slopers will be used for this class. A beginning understanding of sewing is necessary for this class.

Felting is all the rage in crafting now. It is wonderful to know because you can get impressive results with very little cost. Supplies are mostly inexpensive, yet the pieces they create can be stunning.

This three day course will teach the basics of both needle felting and wet felting, then study ways to use them together. There are no stitches, no seams, and no signs of woven cloth -- just a wonderful piece of textile art. Felting is the ultimate in craft creativity because no two items will turn out exactly alike.

In Needle Felting, the student will learn to use needles and wool roving to create shapes such as flowers, animals, and other designs. Unlike wet felting, this dry felting technique uses only the needle.

Wet Felting uses water to bind the wool together. It is the process of fusing wool fibers using soap, water, and agitation. Wet felting is better suited than needle felting when it comes to making large pieces such as purses, pouches, scarves, mittens, and more. It is also preferred for most types of felted jewelry. Wet felting can used along with needle felting to produce great results, so it is helpful to know both methods.

The correct supplies and where to find them will also be discussed.

This class is full of information. Because of the use of sharp needles, students younger than 10 years of age are discouraged from taking this class.
